Fact Sheet
Pastel Skies
Mimas, one of the small moons of Saturn, passes across the giant planet's face in this recent image from the Cassini spacecraft. Mimas is the small round object at upper right. Part of the moon is illuminated by sunlight, while the rest is in shadow. The golden streak across the bottom is a section of Saturn's rings. The blue region is a part of the planet's limb, which appears blue because of haze in the upper atmosphere. Dark streaks across the planet are shadows cast by the rings. [Credit: NASA/JPL/SSI]
