Native Eyes
This glyph of the Mesoamerican god Quetzalcoatl decorates a rock ledge near El Paso. Its "starry" eyes may indicate that the art, which is hundreds of years old, refers to Quetzalcoatl as the planet Venus. The art is one of many relics indicating that ancient Texas cultures paid close attention to the skies. [Credit: Damond Benningfield]
