Fact Sheet
Them!
Lobes of gas billow into space from the surface of a dying star in this recent Hubble Space Telescope image. The gas cloud is called the Ant Nebula because of its resemblance to an ordinary ant. A hidden companion star or strong magnetic fields may sculpt the gas into this distinctive shape. Our Sun will create a similar nebula when it nears the end of its life in several billion years.
