Giant Discovery
Subtle differences in the cloud bands that encircle the planet Uranus are emphasized by computer processing in this false-color image from Hubble Space Telescope. The planet's rings are also visible. Without the processing, Uranus looks like a featureless blue-green orb. Astronomer William Herschel discovered the planet 225 years ago this week. [Credit: NASA/Erich Karkoschka (Univ. Arizona)]
