Fact Sheet
All Eyes on the Sun
Wisps of superhot gas blow into space from the surface of the Sun in this recent image from Stereo, a NASA project that uses two spacecraft to provide three-dimensional images of the Sun. The picture was shot in ultraviolet light to highlight the hot gas. Scientists are paying special attention to the Sun and its interaction with Earth through the International Heliophysical Year, which began March 1. [NASA/NRL]
