Fact Sheet
And Now for Something Completely Different...
Although the Mars rover has received all of the attention this week, another NASA spacecraft completed a tricky rendezvous of its own last Friday. Stardust flew past Comet Wild-2, capturing a few grains of comet for return to Earth in January 2006. This image of the comet, which spans about three miles (5 km) shows craters and "hot spots" where jets of gas shoot off into space. This is the sharpest image of any comet in history.
