Fact Sheet
Long Time, No See
Space shuttle Discovery departs the International Space Station after completing its mission two weeks ago. After studying the loss of foam from Discovery's external fuel tank during launch, NASA decided that shuttles won't return to the station until at least March, not September as originally scheduled. The extra time will allow engineers to study the problem and try to prevent foam losses on future flights. The space agency also decided that Discovery will make the next flight to the station.
