Fact Sheet
Cartwheeling Through Space
The Cartwheel Galaxy features a tight, dense nucleus of stars surrounded by a wide range where new stars are forming. The unusual galaxy owes its shape to a collision with a smaller galaxy -- perhaps one of the two that are close to the Cartwheel in this Hubble Space Telescope image. [Kirk Borne (STScI)/NASA]
