European Space Agency astronaut Roberto Vittori (left) joined the crew of International Space Station Expedition 11 as it headed into orbit aboard a Russian Soyuz capsule late Thursday. Cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev (center) will command the ISS mission, with astronaut John L. Phillips serving as flight engineer. Vittori will return to Earth with the Expedition 10 crew in a few days. Krikalev and Phillips will remain aboard the station for at least six months. They are scheduled to greet space shuttle Discovery next month when it makes the first shuttle mission to the station since the loss of Columbia more than two years ago. [Credit: NASA]
