Fact Sheet
Shaken, Not Stirring
The twin Keck telescopes atop Hawaii's Mauna Kea were knocked out of service for a few days by an earthquake that rattled the state. Although the telescopes, which are the world's largest, were not damaged, some of their associated instruments were knocked out of alignment. Keck Observatory technicians expect both of the telescopes to be back in service within a few days. [Credit: W.M. Keck Observatory]
