Fact Sheet
Cranky Giant
M33, the Triangulum galaxy, is home to a "cranky" giant star, which has been erupting for the last half-century. The star is known as Variable A, and it's one of the galaxy's brightest stars. Eventually, it will outshine the entire galaxy of stars, when it explodes as a supernova. [Credit: NOAO/AURA/NSF]
