Catching a Wave of Gravity
LISA, the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna, will use three carefully spaced satellites to detect gravitational waves from black holes at the centers of galaxies (the bright swirl at top) and other powerful objects. The satellite cluster is scheduled for launch later in the decade.
