Martian Duststorm
A Martian duststorm that scientists first noticed on June 15 had wrapped around most of the planet by July 9 (left) and spread even farther a week later (right). This is the largest duststorm observed on Mars since 1971. Dust particles are carried up to several miles above the surface by winds that can reach 100 miles per hour.
